They went to the lion and explained their plan.
The lion listened and said, “Good! I will stay in my cave. But if food does not come on time, I will hunt all of you again.”
From the next day, each animal took turns going to the lion.

“Yes,” said the rabbit softly. “He said he is the real king. He tried to eat me. I told him you are stronger. But he laughed at you.”
The lion became furious.
“Show me where he is!” he shouted.
The rabbit nodded. “Please follow me, my king. He lives near a deep stone well.”
The rabbit led the lion through bushes and trees.
Soon they reached an old well filled with clear water.
The rabbit pointed inside and said, “He lives in there. Be careful. He is very angry.”
The lion looked into the well.
In the water, he saw his own reflection. He thought it was another lion staring back at him. When he growled, the reflection growled too.
The lion roared loudly.
The sound echoed from the well. It sounded like another lion roaring back.
The lion became mad with anger.
Without thinking, he shouted, “I will finish you now!” and jumped straight into the well.
Splash!
The deep water swallowed him. He could not come out again.
The rabbit stepped back and sighed in relief.
He quickly ran back to the forest and told everyone what happened.
The animals could not believe their ears.
“The lion is gone!” they cheered.
They danced, sang, and hugged the rabbit. The forest became happy again. Birds chirped. Deer ran freely. Even the wind felt lighter.
The little rabbit smiled.
He was small, but his clever mind saved everyone.
